Public health case studies 2014

The following case studies illustrate different aspects of public health and the wide range of activities that can contribute to the health of our communities in North Yorkshire.


Advocacy in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale

Advocacy Alliance provides advocacy for any person aged 18 or over with a learning disability, physical disability, sensory impairment, mental health issue, dementia, substance abuse or frailty/temporary illness.

Community hubs in North Yorkshire

Over the last two years Rural Action Yorkshire have been trialling support to seven village halls to help them become community hubs providing early social care interventions.

Employer sponsored volunteering scheme

Selby District Volunteer Centre was involved with piloting an employer sponsored volunteering scheme to benefit local organisations and the community, the employers sponsoring the volunteers and the volunteers themselves.

The Harrogate Easier Living Project helps older, disabled or vulnerable people to stay independent at home for longer.
