Representation on the North Yorkshire Health and Wellbeing Board

1. Purpose of the report

1.1  To seek a nomination to the North Yorkshire Health and Wellbeing Board.

2.  Background

2.1     The North Yorkshire Health and Wellbeing Board (“the Board”) is a Committee established by statute (Health and Social Care Act 2012).

2.2     It has 20 Members.  This includes representation from North Yorkshire County Council (at Member and Chief Officer level); Clinical Commissioning Groups (which will be absorbed by the Integrated Care Systems from 1st July 2022);  NHS England; and Healthwatch North Yorkshire.

2.3    There is also provision for one elected Member and one Chief Officer from the District/Borough Councils to represent their views and to report back to them on the issues considered at the Board.

2.4     The District Council representatives are not statutory Members of the Board.  It was agreed by the Board in 2018 that the term of office for non statutory Members be until the County Council Elections, held in May 2022.

2.5     The nomination of the elected Member representative will be considered separately by Local Government North Yorkshire and York.

2.6     The current Chief Officer representative of the District/Borough Councils is Janet Waggott (Chief Executive of Selby District Council and Assistant Chief Executive at North Yorkshire County Council).

2.7     In view of Local Government Reorganisation, the District/Borough Council representatives would be appointed until 31st March 2023.

3.  Recommendation

3.1  To nominate a Chief Officer representative to the North Yorkshire Health and Wellbeing Board.
